Missio

During lockdown our community of St Thomas More raised £534.36 through our donations to Missio and the Mill Hill Missionaries. Thank you!

Communities around the world are so grateful that people here in Leicester are supporting them through prayer and our generous donations. The missionaries, and the communities they serve, are living is such difficult circumstances, made even harder by COVID-19. They have asked us to pass on their thanks, and tell us that they pray for us all. Find out more at missio.org.uk. If you have a Missio brown envelope for return, please hand it in at the Presbytery or place in the collection basket on arrival for Mass.

We would like to record our thanks to Beulah for her work for Missio as she steps down from this role. If you could help with the distribution of “brown envelopes” to red box owners, please contact Fr Michael.

Ministry of Stewarding

We are very grateful to the team of stewards who greet us at Mass, guide us to and from our places and carry out cleaning procedures after each Mass. Their generosity allows us to reopen for public Mass in the sure knowledge that your safety is paramount.

We hope to soon have enough volunteers to reopen Immaculate Conception Church for Mass in the not too distant future. However, in opening at Oadby, Knighton will loose some of the existing team who will transfer back to Oadby where they previously attended Mass. In order to have both Churches open for public Mass we need more volunteers to carry out the role of steward in both parishes.

Please consider helping with this vital role to keep our Churches open. If you would like more detail about what is involved, please speak to a steward find out first hand about the role or telephone the Parish Office.

Gently lifting the Restrictions

To enable us to support one another’s wellbeing spiritually, mentally and physically we appeal to everyone to be aware of the new practices as detailed below for our Parish Community. These measures are advisory by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales and we hope everyone attending Mass will respect the measures to ensure the safety of others and themselves.

o Masks are still to be worn in Church (unless you are medically exempt)
o The Online Booking system for Mass will continue throughout the Summer
o Sanitizer is provided in the Narthex and exits doors of the Church
o Please do not kneel or use the kneelers at any time
o Please follow the directions of the stewards at all times
o Maximum ventilation will be maintained with all doors and windows open
o Toilets remain locked. Please speak to a steward if you require urgent access

Thank you for your patience and co-operation with the new practices.

Above all, please be charitable: some of our parishioners are very anxious at our return to ‘normality’.
