Over the next year, Bishop Malcolm wants us to reflect on how we will support each other as communities in the years to come when we will have to face a falling number of priests able to serve in the diocese. To ensure that each Eucharistic community in the diocese has access to a weekly Mass. And to work together to make sure that everyone, with that generosity of spirit, shares their talents and skills to ensure that each Eucharistic community is able to survive as part of the living Body of Christ, living stones, of our Diocese.
The Parish Council warmly invites you to comment on the following document and presentations:
We will be celebrating the YEAR OF OUR PARISH DIAMOND JUBILEE. Starting with a celebratory Mass on Sunday 24th June at 11.00am, followed by a shared table in the School Hall, which the whole Parish Community is invited to. A Hog Roast has also been ordered. So pray for good weather and bring along your garden chairs, picnic rugs, drinks, food, CDs (so we can listen to some background music). The field will also be open to play all sorts of ball games!
BUT…..there’s more….the PPC are also in the process of organising a RETREAT, an Oral History Book….so watch out for the youngsters of our Parish they may want to interview YOU!!! A tree planting exercise, we hope to have a new sign, a Guide Book to our Church which will placed in the Narthex and if we are really lucky we may have another Parish Concert…!!!!
We are extremely fortunate to have such a vibrant and enthusiastic Parish…so let’s PARTY!!

As I am sure you know that the Parish was founded in 1947. The foundation stone of the Church was laid on 4th November 1950. The Church was opened by Bishop Ellis on 6th July 1952 and Consecrated on 22nd July 1972. So, we have a Diamond Jubilee Celebration of the Opening of the Church and a Ruby of it’s Consecration. I am presently gathering ideas of how we can mark these great events in the life of the Parish, so far we have planned to have a Mass on Sunday 24th June at 11.00am (nearest Sunday to St Thomas More’s Feast Day) followed by a celebration on the Parish field (weather permitting). Please let myself or one of the Parish Pastoral Council know if you have any further ideas. Alternatively, please place your ideas in the ‘Suggestion Box’ at the back of the Narthex. Thank you.
Collecting Sainsburys Vouchers for school equipment: At the back of the Narthex a box can be found. The Church aims to raise as many vouchers as possible for both of our Parish Schools; St Thomas More Primary & St Pauls’ Secondary Schools. Let’s get collecting!!!
The Real Easter Egg is the first and only milk chocolate Easter Egg to explain the Christian understanding of Easter on the box. Inside the lid there is a bible quote and with every egg a FREE 8 page Story of Easter booklet. It is also
Fairtrade and supports Traidcraft Exchange. Buy from the official shop at www.realeasteregg.co.uk.

THE MUSIC GROUP: will be playing at 6.00pm Mass on Saturday 3rd March and 31st March. If you would like to join them to play or sing then please contact Alison Bridgwood (the Parish secretaries can give you her e-mail address). So blow the dust off your instruments and get down to Mass and join the Music Group!!
The Finance Committee has met and we have decided in the light of the generosity of the Parishioners and also the financial constraints that people are under at the present time, to reduce the second collections. There will no longer be four collections a year for the Diocesan quota. A list is in the Narthex of the statutory second collections from the diocese and those that are traditionally taken in the Parish. We are also looking to reduce costs by reducing the number of boxed envelopes and invite people to do a Standing Order instead. This would also lower the amount for the counters to calculate.
